![]() Selesnya Conclave: Led by dryads, looking to bring balance between nature and cities. Kinda guessed from the word "syndicate" since that never refers to anything above board.Ĭult of Rakdos: Demonic jesters using satire and performance. Orzhov Syndicate: Church, bank, and organized crime. Izzet League: Magic mad scientists led by a freaking dragon. I'm not typing that name again if I don't have to. Gruul Clans: Anti-civilization folks, led by cyclops Borborygmos. Golgari Swarm: Led by a lich and they process the city's waste. All under the leadership of a sphinx, Supreme Judge Isperia.īoros Legion: Led by Aurelia, an angel, Boros is founded on justice, not just law enforcement. We also get a brief overview of the guilds.Īzorius Senate: It's the government legislative, executive, and judicial system. In short, magic items.Ĭhapter Six: Friends and Foes. This is the DM's chapter, with adventure seeds and a short starter adventure.Ĭhapter Five: Treasures. Described as the "heart of Ravnica," the Tenth District is apparently an important location.Ĭhapter Four: Creating Adventures. Here we'll find info on the guilds, new guild-specific backgrounds, and ways to join guilds, advance, and gain renown.Ĭhapter Three: The Tenth District. We'll be getting new Ravnican races and a couple new class archetypes.Ĭhapter Two: Guilds of Ravnica. It's a setting from Magic: the Gathering detailed across eight sets of cards dating back to 2005 there are ten guilds that correspond to MtG deck styles - I'm guessing that means color combos and it lays out the chapters.Ĭhapter One: Character Creation. Here we learn about the basics of Ravnica. So it's going to be kinda like Xanathar's or Mordenkainen's in that it's kind of an in-setting document, it sounds like. Jace responds with a little post-it style note saying he's got something to do first, but he'll be back to look over the 'notes,' by which is meant this book. Definitely a strong start.Īfter the table of contents, we get into a note from a Deputy Lavinia to Jace Beleren regarding the "Living Guildpact." Lavinia notes that Jace is now the Guildpact (some agreement between guilds, if I have to guess) and that he should get to know all of the ten guilds intimately, including not disappearing so often. ![]() It actually feels like something out of Eberron, but more tech-y than magic. All in front of a super overcast cityscape backdrop. Kickass lady with electrical tech-gear, lightning coursing around her, and a dragon in the background. On the cover is some really killer artwork. Ordinarily with D&D books, I kind of jump all over the place according to what catches my interest, but for this I'll stick to reading in order so I don't skip anything. ![]() I can't promise super frequent updates to this thread, particularly with work going super crazy for the holidays and a lack of free time, but after the holidays it should pick up a bit. But it's 5E, it was cheap, and it's a new setting. It just didn't really interest me at all. I've never been a Magic player, never looked into the lore, and honestly, when GMGtR was announced, I had zero enthusiasm for it. I know pretty much nothing about Ravnica so far other than that there are guilds and it's a bigass city. Having picked up Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica on a whim, mostly because Amazon had it on sale for twenty bucks, I realized that a Let's Read threat is probably the only way I'll read it anytime soon, what with already running games in other settings.
